Mario Manuel Montiel was born in New Mexico, and raised in the very heart of it, in a small town called Belen. Mario went to Belen High school where he discovered his passion for performing in BHS Drama and Choir Departments. After Graduating high school he furthered his education at New Mexico state university where he is attaining his bachelors in theatre arts. He is the first person in his family to get a College Degree and pursue their passion. He is educated in musical theatre, theatre history, vocal production, stage movement, stage makeup, and much more acting/technical training. During his time at NMSU he achieved multiple awards/nominations in acting in both leading and supporting roles. On top of being a full time student, Manager, fraternity member, on his own time he studied Ballet with Borderlands Ballet Company and studied beginning level ballet, and partnering. He has been known for his role in the Nutcracker as Drosselmeyer, and continues to train in ballet, acting,modeling, vocal production, and much more.

Mario is a hard worker and a family man who is strong in his faith with God and the universe guiding him in everything he does. As a versatile actor Mario plays a wide range of roles including comedic leads like a dramatic love struck romantic to more darker and androgynous characters like Dracula. His goals are to use his professional mindset and versatile talents as a performer on Broadway and or film.

Personal Story

Hi, my name is Mario Montiel. I’m an actor with my bachelors in Theatre arts. Why acting you may ask? A When I was little my mom and I would create fairy tale stories and tell them to each other, and that’s what sparked my creativity. That and walking around in her high heals and purses pretending to be the iconic Marilyn Monroe little did I know I wanted to be an Icon myself. Growing up in the church I was exposed to gospel music at a young age and fell in love with the power of soulful storytelling in song. As long as I can remember I love to act and sing, and that’s why most of my experience is in musical theater. My favorite musical is west side story because that’s the first musical theatre opportunity I experienced. Most recently I have played the role of rapunzals prince from into the woods. however, musical theater is not my only interest. I love all forms of art with experience, including ballet, film, sound design,costumes and even stage makeup.  I’m a very hard worker in all of these areas and anything I do , Thankyou have a blessed day.
